Gol Gumbaz
Gol Gumbaz is a mausoleum – which holds the tomb of king Mohammed Adil Shah of the Adil Shahi Dynasty that ruled the Vijayapura region in Karnataka between 1489 and 1686 A.D.Construction of the Gol Gumbaz began in the year 1626 and was completed in 1656. It was designed by Yaqut of Dabul – a famous architect of that time in the region. The name of the monument is based on "Gol Gumbadh”, derived from "Gola Gummata" which means "circular dome".
